Joanna Perkins
Called to the Bar 2001

Joanna specialises in advising on legal issues relating to structured finance, derivatives and financial regulation. In recent years she has acted as junior counsel in notable cases including Lomas v JFB Firth Rixson.

Legal 500 says she is "considered, diligent and thorough in her analyses, and provides clear and practical advice", and remarks on her "impressively analytical and forensic approach, which means that she can master the detail without losing sight of the key issues at stake". Chambers & Partners describes her as "extremely clever, [she] obviously has a lot of insight from her general work in the financial markets. She has a very profound understanding of the underlying business issues".

In 2011 Joanna was appointed as a Finance Expert to the Panel of Recognized International Markets Experts in Finance, also known as PRIME Finance and in 2012 was listed as one of the most influential women in the European Financial Markets by Financial News FN100 Women.

Joanna worked at the Bank of England from 2004-2010 as Secretary of the Financial Markets Law Committee (FMLC), a role which involves directing initiatives to address problems of legal uncertainty in the wholesale financial markets. She continues to act as CEO of the FMLC on a part-time basis.
